7 Ways You Can Help An Angel

1. PRAYER
There are lots of ways you can be involved in the Buckner “Angels from Abroad” program.  First, and most important, is to begin praying for the children and orphanage caretakers that will travel. Ask your RA, GA and other mission groups to “adopt” a child to pray for as they travel to the US, as they spend time in host families, and as they travel home.

2. HOST A CHILD
We are actively looking for Christian families interested in international adoption to host the children who will visit the United States this summer. Provide information about the hosting program in your church newsletter, bulletin and announce the opportunity in your Sunday School classes.

3. MEET A CHILD
Not everyone may be able to commit to hosting a child for two-weeks, but many may desire to meet the children who will be visiting from Russia. Plan to attend one of the Buckner events that the children will be at, or consider inviting the children to visit your church or host an event in their honor (invite them to a Wednesday evening meal, to play basketball with member’s children in your church gym, etc.). This is a great way to put a “face” on international missions and allow your congregation to see the children whose lives are impacted by their kindness.

4. CONTRIBUTE
We are asking churches and individuals to help contribute to the costs associated with bringing the children to the United States. Your church could take a love offering or make a donation to help offset some of these costs. Airfare, visas, hotel and miscellaneous travel costs equal $2,000 per child. You may choose to sponsor a child so that a family interested in adopting this child will be relieved of some financial burdens.

5. INTERNATIONAL ADOPTION
Host a Buckner International Adoption Workshop at your church. Buckner International Adoption facilitates monthly meetings throughout the Dallas area to help families interested in adoptions overseas learn more about the process. Your church could serve as a meeting place for one of the monthly meetings to make it easy for your congregation and other families living near your church learn more about international adoption.

6. PLAN A MISSION TRIP
Buckner International Adoption is a division of Buckner Orphan Care International. BOCI facilitates mission trips to orphanages overseas throughout the year. Begin plans for your church members to travel overseas to provide a Vacation Bible School experience to children living in orphanages or gather a team to complete a medical trip or construction project overseas. BOCI is currently planning mission trips to Guatemala, Kenya, Russia, Romania, China, Botswana, Latvia, Bulgaria and Mexico.

7. VOLUNTEER
Buckner Orphan Care International needs volunteers year-round to help gather and sort donations to be sent to children in orphanages throughout the world. This could be a great service project for Sunday School classes and mission groups.
