History

Angels from Abroad is an orphan host program that brings older Russian orphans who are available for international adoption to the United States to learn about American culture, share their Russian culture and experience what it’s like to live in a family. They stay with a host family for two weeks and participate in a variety of activities, including a day at the lake, makeovers and photo shoots, special doctor visits, a night at the rodeo and more.

The Angels from Abroad program was created in 2004 to raise awareness about the needs of adopting older children from Russia. Russian orphanages care for approximately 700,000 children, many between the ages of 6 and 15 years of age. At the age of 16, if not adopted, children are forced to leave the orphanage system and can become victimized by drugs and alcohol, prostitution and crime.

Angels from Abroad is a program of Dillon International, in affiliation with Buckner International. Through Dillon and Buckner, families can adopt children from China, Ethiopia, Haiti, Honduras, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Nepal, Russia, and the United States.
